Water – to drink or not to drink?

Everywhere we go we hear drink more water. Why? How much? So here is the answer! The human body is 2/3 water that’s almost 75% water. Our tissues and organs are made up of water. I could give you percentages of what is made up of how much water but that’s not going to hold your interest. So lets just stick with the fact that the human body is 2/3 water. So what does water do for our health:

  • Helps metabolism

  • Protects our organs

  • Regulates body temperature

  • Transports nutrients and oxygen to our organs

  • Keeps our lungs and joints lubricated

Our body needs water (not juice, not coffee, and definitely not soda) to function optimally. What happens when we are dehydrated (not enough intake of water):

  • Fatigue and tiredness

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Muscle Cramps (those painful ones in the calf)

  • Irregular Blood pressure and kidney functioning

  • And a whole bunch of other bad stuff!!

So drink up!! How much? Well I suggest minimum of 8 glasses or 64 ounces of water a day! If you want to metabolize fat then ½ your weight (lbs.) in ounces of water.

Eample: weight – 180 lbs Then ½ that is 90 ounces of water!!
